This article is fantastic: How to Save Cleveland. It hits every nail on the head! I hate when people say "Cleveland's great, we have a fantastic orchestra! And the Rock Hall!" Number of residents who go to the orchestra or Rock Hall: 12. Maybe 13.

It irks me that the Mayor is hell-bent on a new convention center and/or Medical Mart, as if that's going to help the citizens at all. How about instead you fix the shitty-ass roads, tear down the 8 billion boarded up houses, and generally make the place a little nicer for people that live here, not for short-term visitors. Cleveland's got some awesome places, but the popular attitude is just shitty, and it starts at the top (Mayor Jackson, Plain Dealer, City Council). The Plain Dealer tries daily to bring down any local business or public servant it can find (sometimes in the right, most times way off base). Scene magazine hasn't had a pro-Cleveland article since 1974. I'm hoping with the next elections people will wise up and vote everyone out. Time for new blood, new ideas!

Then again, this is the city that repeatedly re-elects the Congressman who, as mayor, started this downward spiral.
